The truth is...

I've been frolicking in the countryside of Scotland.

Trying to learn the names of all the flowers...

Chilling out in old clothes with my lovely boyfriend taking stupid pictures

Climbing trees & ripping jeans

Dressing "up" for vintage hunting in the city

(In fact I found the most beautiful lace blouse which saved me a trip to River Island a la this months Vogue...)

So yes I have been visiting my father & spent the whole time in converse, hiking boots & comfy jumpers. Until we went into Glasgow & I felt I had to "smarten up" a bit. It was just lovely climbing hills & walking around lakes all day. Just what I needed before the madness of summer officially kicks in & I head off to Cornwall.

Thank you for all your book recommendations (I spent my whole day at work - in a bookshop - seeing if we had them in stock & how much my staff discount made them). However, I did find myself in Fopp the other day & couldn't stop myself purchasing all the Douglas Coupland I haven't read before. (he is highly recommended!) & George Orwell...

What are you wearing today? What is the last thing you bought? Today I wore what is in the photos because I washed everything so all I had were leggings. The last thing I bought was some cloudy lemonade from sainsbury's. It was good.

Shoesies for the evening...

Wore the above last night for the joyous coach ride up to London where I am now for a few days chilling with my lover.

This scarf was bought by my mum in a Hobbs sale, stolen by my sister, she then left it when she moved out, then I stole it again, then my mum reclaimed it & now it's mine again!

I know I've been a rubbish blogger but I shall try and become reformed now it's officially summer (college over) & you'll be bored of the sight of me by the time September comes! Although...I did buy the most beautiful beaded jacket yesterday & shall keep you posted on my (seemingly life long) search for the perfect vintage boater.

ripped shirts & bloody noses

So, I have spent the last 4 days in a field somewhere in the Midlands where the ratio of men with long hair to women with long hair is completely askew.

2 of the shirts I wore are torn, muddy & pretty much unusable & after standing in front of the main stage for about 10 minutes my boyfriend got punched in the face.

However bad that sounds though Download was A M A Z I N G.

But anyway down to the serious business of outfits I've been wearing since my last proper post. I definitely did not wear these beautiful silk shorts in the muddy field, that would be like blasphemy!

(wearing:: random black top, silk shorts my mum found on sale for £4! Real silk & everything, I was well chuffed, belt as always & shoes were free yay!)

I'd had a really hectic weekend with working, revising for my theory test (I passed!) & seeing friends so when I finally saw my mother on the Sunday afternoon she presented me with these gorgeous shorts she found whilst looking for pajamas. Long story short, I'm in love.

(wearing:: top found in a charity top the other week, my favorite skinny jeans, AA of course, shoes as before, hallway, my house)

This top flows in the most amazing way, uncapturable (?is that a word?) by a camera, & it sort of looks unflattering here but oh well, maybe that's just my friends camera skills (I joke, I joke) But anyway this & high waisted jeans is my failsafe for the interchangeable weather that looks gloomy in the morning then gets stupidly hot.

& on a final note...

Yes I know all the words & I am not ashamed!

Long time no post. I know. Between a new college, boyfriend, work, revision, & the amazing weather I just haven't really been near a computer in a while.

It was my friends birthday party on Friday night, black tie, so I decided to go a little 80s (well 80s meets Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz) Lots of photos....

Also tried it with this red belt. & thought I needed a big red necklace & my friend lovingly took a photo of my demonstrating this.

I got this dress when I went to New York a few years ago, to wear to my prom. But the other night I wore it over this sort of tutu skirt thing to make it extra big. In my head it was like that grey dress Carrie wears on the bed of the hotel in the finale episode of SATC, ahh. Maybe not but hey, I felt good!

& I found this gem of a jacket for £6 in a charity shop on Friday. £6 for a silk jacket with those square shoulders & angular neckline...I fell in love. I was going to bead it (longing for this topshop jacket) but I think it's just too pretty to touch.

Anyway yes, thank you so very much to all the new commenters (if thats the right word?) I'm trying to be more active blogging wise so I will now embark on replying to you all!

After a really crappy week last week things are looking good again! Just had an interview at a new college & start on the 1st of June to do Physics, English & Maths. I would never have thought I'd be doing such academic subjects, but my year at St Brendans (sixth form) has been a mess & honestly I can't wait to get out.

Oh & I get pay PLUS the tax I shouldn't have paid at the end of the month, sooo...

Spent the whole coach journey home from London (seeing my boyfriend) looking on etsy & ebay for beautiful vintage clothing because I haven't got any money left & shops are too depressing.

But I realized I always just find myself looking for the same things since I forgot to bid or forgot to buy something I really wanted, or something I really loved but really didn't have the money to fritter away on. & accessories. Shoes & hats. I always buy hats & don't wear them. So I made a collage giving you some of the best garments that fall in these categories for me.

Do other people do this or am I mad?

I think all the patterned trouser love is from these trousers I tried on in Selfridges that I didn't buy but still secretly long for... I'll get some someday.

Colour Blocking

Today the weather was grey, so I decided to give colour a play.

Oh & I'm secretly a frog... (who can rhyme)

(wearing: tights from a shop in Notting Hill, London that I cannot remember the name of... a coat from zara in Paris a couple of years ago, oversized t-shirt from the one & only American Apparel, belt bought by my mother or a friend I think, shoes as always (I'm in love with them) free on a shoot & originally from faith)

Ok I'll stop with the rhyming. I went through a phase of being obsessed with primary colours but today after refinding these awesome tights I decided to go down the secondary route. For more 'outfit' pictures head over to my chictopia.

Other notable things this week were my brother asking me to take photos for a music video he's making for Saint Etienne's new song Can't Sleep. Here are some of the best as visual presents for you all.

So Tuesday morning, no college till 2. I roped my friends into coming down to Topshop with me & yay!! Got that lovely shoulder padded dress & an oversized top that I can now see myself living in for the rest of summer...

The only disappointing thing is that the dress is less of a dress & more of a...long top. I wore shorts underneath on Saturday night, but it's just so damn beautiful!

Also Jamie T is back. Oh how I have missed him. Panic Prevention was lyrically crafted, witty & raw so I can't wait until his EP Sticks & Stones comes out on the 29th. Until then here's the video for Fire, Fire as a taster.

Oh & PS. I went to get my hair cut short (sorry I went against advice) with a new hairdresser on Thursday. He completely butchered it so I had to go back to my regular hairdresser on Friday to sort it out. She did her best but I need to let my fringe grow out more before she can cut it properly. It's not great as you can see in the pictures. I got my money back & everything but still... It's not gonna be decent for at least a fortnight. No fair!

I read an article yesterday morning about a man called Bob Carlos Clarke who threw himself under a train on March 25th 2006.

Before that however he was one of Britain's most noted photographers. He lived his life in turmoil over not getting fame & recognition for his talent that he so obviously deserved. He was obsessed by powerful women & most of his images have sexual or fetish overtones.

Personally I think they are rather beautiful...

I am counting down the days (5 at this very moment in time) until this collection hits the shops. I've been obsessed with Biba for many years, specifically since I inherited an original piece from my mother, the most beautiful cardigan I've ever seen.

That shoulder padded dress? Just. Wow.

(kudos for anyone who knows the obscure title reference to be the name of the operation by 'the angry brigade' to bomb the london biba shop on May 1st 1971, & if not there's some history for you ooo so educational)

I'm meant to be finishing my coursework but...ssshhh. Blogging random photos is far more important, of course!

So finally found my card reader & this is what I wore on Friday night::

I always forget how short this dress is. So I ended up borrowing my friends shorts all night. But oh well.

I've also re started making collages etc to feed my creativity when I can't sleep so I thought I'd post up a few of my favorites. All the magazine clippings are from old Elle's & I used the stencil's for a textile project last term.

I can never bring myself to throw potentially pretty things away...

& finally, I can't get this song out of my head.

I heard somewhere No Doubt were touring together sometime soonish, probably not the UK though, oh well. I shall continue to reminisce.

Has been a busy & eventful week.

Went to Birmingham on Monday as me & Jesus cannot afford Paris at the moment.

So we settled for Selfridges. It was pretty disappointing all round apart from a decent Zara & some marshmallow juice thing that I got at the food court.

Spent too much in town on Tuesday & now have about 10p for the rest of the month.

(ok slight exaggeration but not by much)

& yesterday went to Oakwood (theme park in Wales) with the college crew.

Totally amazing with added adrenaline.

Today I had my 5th driving lesson & I'm still good! Also planned a picnic on the downs but the rain put a stop to it. I made flapjacks & everything!

Oh well, I'm working overtime this weekend but Happy Easter everyone!

The man on the right is Dan Le Sac, he's the one who makes the beats that make you want to dance around Mr. Pips beautiful poetry.

Together they made that one, you know, 'Thou Shalt Always Kill'.

So I'm going to see Reel Big Fish tonight (meaning I'm cram listening to them, shame on me I know) but the truth is...I'm scared they'll be shit.

The old stuff is amazing but the new stuff... 'Monkeys for nothing...' was shocking. & their new albums covers. Not even new material.

Come on Aaron Barrett! A man with that caliber of name cannot give up this easily!

He is Professor Brian Cox, physicist. He's geeky, he has great big teeth & he gets excited about time being relative, what more could you want?

His Horizon documentary Can We Make A Star On Earth? is on BBC iplayer now.

Still not a patch on Louis Theroux though *sigh*

Just got back from London & the lovely boyfriend & have spent the day in a lovely vintage dress that I bought on Sunday at this vintage fashion fair I went to (link) & it made me think that I should buy more vintage. So I was browsing around etsy and I found this beautiful dress:

Lace as well. I've wanted a black lace dress almost as long as I've wanted a red velvet one.

BUT it's $49 and I just spent all my money in big london town

Oh well maybe next month.

why topshop?

Sorry...this annoyed me so I decided to share it.

On the Topshop website they have a 'Look Book' where they have some key looks they think are trends this season. So these are the 'looks':

All well & good, great pictures & attitude as always. What you expect from Topshop.

So personally I looked at the Memphis look and went in & saw this body/all in one sort of corset denim short thing. But along with it the items they'd picked that they actually sell were completely different.

See what I mean? The garment I actually wanted is something that they don't even sell. So they're using photos of girls in clothes that they don't even stock!

Topshop, what the fuck is going on?

Despite this however I did purchase a beautiful liberty print bustier & matching briefs, just in time for valentines day (ok so valentines is technically today but as boyfriend lives in London, our valentines day has been relocated to Monday)

My body is rubbish.

And due to this I am unable to go to a gig I've been looking forward too for literally, days. Instead I shall sit at home thinking of Blaine's wild hair & ridiculously high pitched singing & cough myself to sleep.

Or I will listen to the beautiful 'Behind the Bunhouse' below

& reminisce about what could've been.

origami meets jungle

Possibly my favorite RTW collection this season. Christopher Kane's beautiful circular paper/origami feel dresses looked so delicate. But combined with his classic strong shapes and a recurring theme this season, of large shoulders, this is femininity with definite attitude.

This gorilla mini is probably my favorite although it's one of the few without the echo of the circles. The clean creased lines of the skirt work beautifully. Now if only I could find the money to wear it myself...

It all started when I spotted one in urban outfitters. Then flickr groups were everywhere. So I did some research & have officially decided a lomo camera is what my heart desires this christmas time.

A Diana+ to be more specific. Just look how gorgeous it is!

Hmm...a possibly a splitzer for extra fun...

You fix it on the lens & it 'splits' it up to form awesome layered images. Wowzers.

I discovered MMMG (millimeter milligram) on a recent trip to South Korea and instantly fell in love with them. There's plenty of nice stationary out there, branded with nice messages but the stunted translation means that all the MMMG statements are blunt and very to the point, making them even better. They are also beautifully made and executed. And (even better) available online! LINK

Four of my favorite pieces from Hussein Chalayan's Spring RTW collection 09'

He's come along way from burying cloth in his back garden in 1993

& obviously he's learnt a lot too.

Amidst all the busily printed material, wild hats & 3D glasses it's painfully clear just how talented Mr Chalayan is. Talent & creativity? Not something you see everyday.
